Womble Bond Dickinson appointed Nick Acevedo and Brandon hedgebeth like Womble Scholars.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has delayed announcing a 2021 Womble Scholar. Acevedo was selected for this honor and also accepted an offer to join the firm as an associate after obtaining of her degree in 2022. Additionally, Hedgebeth is the firm’s 2022 Womble Fellow and will return to the firm in 2022 as a summer partner.

Acevedo is a magna cum laude graduate from Rutgers University and is currently a student at Wake Forest University Law School. He is a United States Marine Corps veteran who served on active duty in Afghanistan, and he now volunteers to assist other veterans at the Veterans Legal Clinic at Wake Forest School of Law. Acevedo is also active in criminal justice reform efforts.

Hedgebeth is a magna cum laude graduate of NC Central University, where he served as president of the Student Government Association. He is currently a student at NC Central University School of Law, where he is class president. Hedgebeth spent the summer of 2021 as a summer associate of Womble Bond Dickinson and also did internships at UNCG and the University of Arkansas.

Awards

Food Lion received a national accolade for its work to reduce refrigerant emissions across its entire footprint. The distinction, Superior Goal Achievement, awarded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency‘s GreenChill program, recognizes Food Lion for its efforts to reduce refrigerant emissions that impact the ozone layer and climate change. Superior Goal Achievement recognition is awarded to GreenChill partners who achieve their 2020 emission reduction targets. Food Lion was one of the 10 founding partners of the EPA’s GreenChill program in 2007.
