- At the June 9 general meeting of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the dean of law at Loyola University New Orleans Madeleine Landrieu received the 2022 President’s Award. The LSBA honored Landrieu with this award in recognition of his leadership as a judge and academic leader. “There are a lot of people working very hard every day to make our legal and justice systems work,” Landrieu said. “None of us do this work to be recognized, but it is important that the work itself be recognized.”
- For the fifth consecutive term, East Jefferson General Hospital has earned Magnet recognition through the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program. This title is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice. EJGH is the only hospital in Louisiana to receive this recognition for five consecutive terms. “Being recognized as a Magnet Hospital for the fifth consecutive term speaks volumes about the level of patient care provided at our hospital,” said Richard Tanzella, CEO of the hospital. “I am proud of our team members who have retained this prestigious designation and shown our community that we are committed to providing expert care every day. »
- Pontchartrain Conservatory – a non-profit organization for coastal sustainability, water quality, and environmental education – and St. Tammany Parish Government received the Gulf Guardian Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency environment. The honor recognizes both entities for the Bayou Liberty Water program, which aims to improve beaches, living marine resources and water quality in the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Pontchartrain and surrounding waterways.
- Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and Audubon Zoo are the winners of the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Award contest. The Aquarium and Zoo rank sixth. The 20 nominees were hand-picked by a panel of travel experts and nearly all are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. “We are thrilled to be honored by the most meaningful judges we could ask for: our guests,” said Ron Forman, president and CEO of the Audubon Nature Institute.

- Area Development magazine, a trade publication specializing in economic development, featured Louisiana with a 2022 Silver Shovel Award, recognizing the state as one of the nation’s leaders in capital investment and statewide job creation in 2021, he said.
- Southern Cardiovascular Institute was selected by Modern Healthcare as one of the 2022 Best Places to Work in Healthcare, earning this title for the third consecutive year. The awards program identifies and recognizes outstanding healthcare employers nationwide. “Our physicians and team members are the driving force behind our unique culture, which has always been the primary reason for our success,” said CIS CEO David Konur.
- State-of-the-art CE conferences and events announced that Jan Ramsey, Editor of OffBeat Music Magazine, received its 2022 Music Influencer Award. “You can’t name a non-musician who has had more influence on the New Orleans music scene than Jan Ramsey. His publication is recognized worldwide as the go-to authority on New Orleans music.
- Denmark named two top employees as recipients of its 2021 Employee of the Year awards. Sales Supervisor Brittney Fremin is Employee of the Year and Ground Warehouseman Terry Schexnider is Field Employee of the Year Dwain “Hog” Carrell. “Both Brittney and Terry embody the Danos values of Safety, Service, Integrity, Respect and Improvement,” said CEO Paul Danos. “They embody excellence and our high-performance culture in their day-to-day work, and we are proud that they represent Danos.”
